“What really drew me into this story were the characters. They’re so well developed that, as the story unfolds, you feel as though you’re genuinely getting to know them – and before long, your completely invested in what happens to them. Add humour, intrigue, unexpected twists and it makes for a thoroughly enjoyable read.”

Who knew graphic design could be so dangerous?

Tom and April Finch, owners of a multidiscipline design studio/business consulting agency, are drawn into a complex web of corporate espionage and technology theft when they are (kind of accidentally) hired by two competing companies, each owned by estranged siblings torn apart by past grief and bent on revenge. They and their eccentric group of contractors overcome kidnapping, self-induced vehicle theft, a run in with a guy named Eddie, a sudden romance, road trips with oddly specific music, and a dog named Frankie Beans who brings the warring sides together.

“I was continually asking ‘What on earth is going to happen next?’ I’m already looking forward to Tomko’s next book in the series!”

Who is…

Mike Tomko

Graphic designer, and now author, Mike has been developing logos, branding, print materials and web design for clients since 1994. That’s right, he’s from the 1900’s! His work has been featured in many logo reference books, brochure collection books as well as design annuals.

After manipulating pixels for the last 30+ years he’s decided to do the same with words. If they say a picture is worth a thousand words, well, then there’s over 110 images in Sons of Eve. You just need to read to see them.

Having written headlines, taglines and ad copy for clients, writing a book was never on Mike's radar. This is his first foray into crafting a fictitious novel, something he never thought he’d do. But in the early morning of Christmas Eve, 2025, a story, complete with its cast of characters came calling, waking Mike up. He answered by putting their tale down on paper. The Finch series was born.

Bringing Mike’s passion for graphic design into the novel, he has also created the logos, websites and merchandise for each of the corporations mentioned in the book. You could say he’s Tom and April Finch’s ghost designer.

Mike is an avid fan of music, whether it’s playing an instrument and recording music, or more often than not, purely listening to it, music is a big part of his life. As such, each book will be loaded with musical references, along with a companion playlist for the book available on Spotify.

When Mike isn’t designing, writing or doing something with music, he enjoys working on old cars, as well as attending car auctions and car shows, including SEMA. He and his wife Liz are also restoring a pair of vintage golf carts, and Mike lends a hand to Liz on her home remodeling projects.
